Homes for Sale in Marietta

Marietta

If you’re looking for all the advantages of living in the city while still enjoying the wide open spaces of the suburbs, Marietta is the perfect place for you. Located 20 miles directly north of Atlanta, Marietta features all of the dining, shopping and cultural attractions of a larger city, along with plentiful greenspace, a historic town square, top-rated schools, and even a 3,000 acre national park!

The city has six historic districts, some on the National Register of Historic Places, including the areas around the Marietta Square, such as Whitlock Avenueand Church-Cherokee Streets. Well preserved homes in these districts are true gems, with the surrounding streets maintaining their early 20thcentury look and charm. Many of the newer neighborhoods in the area have been built to maintain this same historic feel, with older trees preserved and lots built larger with sidewalks and street lights.

The downtown Marietta Square is the place to be all throughout the week. Enjoy a delicious meal at one of the dozens of restaurants located on the square or the nearby side streets, and catch some of the local and regional acts performing on certain Friday evenings throughout the spring and summer. The square’s Farmers Market takes place every Saturday morning throughout the year, with an additional Sunday afternoon market in the summer months. The recently opened Marietta Square Food Market just off the square houses 17 food vendors with indoor and outdoor seating, in a historical converted warehouse. A large Fourth of July Fireworks display and other seasonal festivals like the Taste of Marietta are also favorites of residents and visitors alike.

The proximity of the Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park is another major selling point for the city of Marietta. Set on nearly 3,000 pristine acres, the park features a museum, monuments, a preserved historic farmhouse and over 22 miles of maintained interpretive trails. Wildlife viewing is also a favorite activity in the park, which was designated a globally Important Bird Area in 2000, the first such designation in the state of Georgia.
